All of my whips are made to order. I handcraft all of my whips for my clients. Delivery time will therefore vary according to number of orders I have ahead of yours and the type of whip you have requested. Please contact me for my current wait time.

Whip Information

Length

Bullwhip length is measured in feet from the base of the handle to the end of the braid, not including the fall and popper. The standard fall length is 30 inches, and the popper is approx. 9 inches long tail included. Together, they typically add an extra 3 feet to the thong.

My whips come in lengths from 6 to 12 feet. For beginners, a whip of 6 to 8 foot long is recommended. For the Indy fan, the most popular lengths are 8, 9 and 10 foot. The 8 footer is probably the best length for all-around whipcracking, and it also looks good coiled on the belt.

Ten footers are longer and more difficult to master due to the increased length and weight. They are slower, but they flow gracefully and crack loudly. They are also better suited for wraps.

Splitting the difference, 9 footers are becoming increasingly popular, not being too slow or heavy, flowing gracefully and also looking great when carried on the belt.

The whip carried by Indy in his belt in the first 3 films is reportedly 10 foot long. However, 8 footers were also used.

In the last Indy film, whips 8 and 10 foot long were supplied.

Color

All the Indiana Jones whips used in the first three films were all made David Morgan in natural tan. This vegetable-tanned leather will darken with exposure to sunlight. A natural tan whip when new whip will look fairly light, but it will get darker with time, use and exposure to sunlight. Also, regular applications of leather dressing will darken the leather, no matter its composition.
The color of the whips used in the latest Indy film is whisky, with black knots.
